About Colorado Mental Health Hospital In Pueblo

The Mental Health Hospital Division is charged with operating forensic services and the state's two mental health institutes or psychiatric hospitals: the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) and the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) in Denver. The Hospital Operations Department provides operational oversight of furniture, fixtures, equipment (FFE), office space utilization, procurement, printing operations, risk management, delivery of mail, packages, supplies, mailroom and building management of the Robert Hawkins Building at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo. It is the Operations Department’s goal to ensure the division’s programs are able to provide quality services through continuous improvement and collaboration.

Description Of Job

This is a full-time, in-person position. The incumbent is expected to report to the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) campus as required.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

The position exists to support the Equipment Manager with training, distribution of equipment, and assisting CMHHIP staff in trouble-shooting GPS ankle monitors, telephones, cellphones, pagers, DirectTV and printers/copiers. The position also supports the Hawkins Building Manager with general duress system maintenance.

Primary Duties

Cell Phones / Landlines Phones and Pagers

  • Liaises with the Hospital Operations Equipment Manager to manage the full lifecycle of telecommunications and IT assets.
  • Coordinates staff training sessions and oversees the distribution of technical equipment across the facility.
  • Provides direct technical support to CMHHIP staff by troubleshooting issues with landline telephones, cellular phones, and pagers.
  • Maintains an accurate database for all communication devices to ensure data integrity and tracking.
  • Monitors pager status actively and facilitates necessary repairs or replacements to minimize service disruptions.
  • Ensures the overall inventory of all related equipment remains adequate to support continuous hospital operational needs

Computers And Printers

  • Collaborates with the Hospital Operations Equipment Manager to manage the lifecycle of essential IT and communications equipment.
  • Coordinates staff training and oversees equipment distribution across the facility.
  • Provides technical support to CMHHIP staff for troubleshooting computers, printers, and copiers.
  • Facilitates the repair or replacement of malfunctioning IT equipment to maintain operational continuity.
  • Maintains the database on leased computers to ensure accurate tracking and compliance.
  • Ensures the inventory of computers remains adequate to meet hospital operational needs.

Television and Audio/Visual Equipment

  • Collaborates with the Hospital Operations Equipment Manager to assist with the management of television and audio/visual equipment.
  • Coordinates the distribution of equipment across various hospital units.
  • Provides technical support to CMHHIP staff for troubleshooting DirectTV cable, television, and other audio-visual issues.
  • Ensures all units remain adequately equipped with necessary television and audio-visual resources to support facility needs.

GPS Tracking

  • Collaborates with the Hospital Operations Equipment Manager to assist with the management of the GPS tracking system.
  • Provides first-level technical support and troubleshooting for GPS ankle monitors.
  • Conducts necessary training for staff on the proper use of the GPS tracking system.

Hawkins Building Duress System Maintenance

  • Collaborates with the Hawkins Building Manager to assist with the management of the personal duress alarm system.
  • Provides first-level technical support and troubleshooting for the personal duress alarm system.

Purchasing

  • Collaborates with the Hospital Operations Equipment Manager to assist with routine purchasing and procurement support for the department.
  • Makes purchases for necessary equipment and supplies to ensure continuous availability of resources.
  • Tracks order status and coordinates with vendors regarding delivery schedules and invoicing processes.

Other Duties As Assigned

  • Performs any other duties that may arise to ensure necessary tasks are completed, even if not specifically covered in the established duty statements.

Two (2) years of relevant experience or in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education And Experience

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years. (Ie., Associates of Science, Business Degree, electronics)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous basic electronic experience - (televisions, cell phones, computers, etc)
  • Education relevant to functionality and electronics repair
  • Relevant years of State service should be considered as a preferred qualification and given weight under the process. Part-time relevant years of State service will be prorated.

Conditions of Employment

  • Full Background CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services),Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
  • Travel – May travel for training or other needs of the department
  • Valid, unrestricted US Driver's License is required.
  • MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD CHECK: This position will drive a state fleet or non-state fleet vehicle for State business purposes.
  • This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
  • Out-of-State Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.

CDHS Selection Process Explanation

Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
