Salary: $148,300 - 198,800 per year Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in the design, engineering, installation, and commissioning of control systems for electromechanical systems.
- Proven expertise in safety-related system design, including defensive design techniques and fail-safe control systems.
- Proficient with control processors, components, and communication networks for multi-processing real-time industrial and/or embedded applications.
- Extensive experience in industrial control system installation, integration, and commissioning.
- Solid knowledge of control system theory, including closed-loop control and positioning systems.
- Familiarity with software development tools such as Integrated Development Environments (IDE), compilers, and debuggers.
- Competent in real-time control systems ensuring deterministic operations.
- Skilled in developing and interpreting electrical schematics and one-line diagrams.
- Proficient with engineering software tools like AutoCAD, Matlab, Simulink, and Solidworks.
- Capable of selecting equipment control devices based on performance, reliability, and ease of use.
- Expert in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex closed-loop motion control systems.
- Knowledge of pneumatic controls and devices.
- Experience with Safety Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills using tools like voltmeters and oscilloscopes.
- Understanding of electrical design standards and codes, including UL508a and NEC.
- Familiar with industry standards related to amusement and automation, namely ASTM F2291.
- Experience in contractor/vendor management and technical contract documentation.
- Capable of developing implementation plans and budgets for ride control systems.
- Proficient in scheduling and estimating development projects.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities: - Manage the complete scope of conceiving, designing, and delivering control systems for a variety of intricate and innovative ride systems and related equipment.
- Define and implement technical specifications and software for operator-intensive, safety-critical control systems.
- Develop safety-critical control and network architecture, as well as algorithms for ride attractions and vehicles to ensure high reliability.
- Design operator interfaces and electrical control panels.
- Conduct Installation Validation, I/O Checkouts, system function tests, and acceptance tests for control systems, possibly involving work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Prepare technical documentation such as Theory of Operation and Design Specifications.
- Create hazard assessments and perform failure modes and effects analyses.
- Write comprehensive testing requirements, strategies, safety protocols, and procedures.
- Investigate new technologies and products while conducting trade-off analyses.
- Develop prototypes to validate concepts as necessary.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and UL certifications for ride control systems.
- Ensure compliance with local codes and engage with jurisdiction inspectors.
- Create facility interface specifications in documents, drawings, and 3D models.
- Analyze system performance to confirm requirements are met.
- Design, model, and assess electrical and dynamic systems.
- Review electrical and mechanical schematics to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Perform quality checks to guarantee that all specifications have been met.
- Lead factory testing and field-testing initiatives for ride systems.
- Identify and resolve faults to determine root causes.
- Collaborate with operators and project teams to establish and deliver maintainable systems.
- Oversee design, engineering, testing, and installation efforts with suppliers at their locations and project sites.
- Lead a team of engineers and specialists to develop and implement ride control systems that fulfill the creative vision and operational requirements.
- Create and manage testing requirements and documentation, leading the testing efforts.
