The primary goal of this position is to analyze market and referral data to identify, develop and retain targeted provider relationships that generate referrals for serious and complex patients to Mayo Clinic. Utilize data sources to identify existing and potential referring provider targets and establish leads for field sales visits. Responsible for serving as primary sales representative for external provider relationships in local, regional and national markets. Develops and manages referring provider relationships utilizing field sales calls, telephone, email, written correspondence, social media and various electronic tools. Must have a strong understanding of prioritized clinical diagnoses and procedures across Mayo Clinic specialties and be able to convey our clinical differentiators to external providers. Accountable to manage new and existing business relationships and develop and lead specific market strategies and tactics.
Territory management activities include securing referring provider sales meetings, organizing and executing physician ambassador field visits, and cold-calling on business opportunities. Acts as a general resource and point of contact for external organizations and providers to increase knowledge, awareness, strategy and involvement of programs/services within targeted physicians and healthcare organizations. Must have and maintain excellent knowledge base of Mayo services, insurance plans and service expectations. Reports results of account management and business development activities to RPO and clinical specialty leaders and stakeholders. Up to 50% travel required , including local visits and some airline travel for out-of-state visits. Site visits occasionally require hosting breakfast, lunch or dinner meetings.This is a hybrid position and requires occasional work on site on the Rochester Mayo Clinic Campus.
QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, health promotion, health care, public relations, communications, management, or related degree plus 3 years experience working in a health care clinic setting, marketing, public relations, communications, sales or customer relations management position.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of different people with diverse backgrounds. Requires strong time management skills and the ability to manage several initiatives simultaneously.
Sales experience preferred. Account management experience preferred. Must be able to develop in-depth knowledge of clinical product offerings, distribution systems and selling process.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.
