Brief Description

ABOUT APPLIED AEROSPACE

Join the team that builds for the best. At Applied Aerospace, we design, fabricate, and test mission-critical aerospace components for leading innovators like SpaceX, NASA, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing. Every part we create reflects our relentless commitment to quality, reliability, and performance. Through precision engineering and purpose-driven innovation, we’re helping take aerospace technology to new heights — and we’re looking for talented individuals who want to be part of that journey.

Overview Of Position

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production across shared operations centers by driving efficient, compliant, and technically sound manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for providing engineering support for the fabrication of hardware, tooling, and production-related activities in accordance with customer specifications, quality requirements, and internal operational standards. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with production, quality, planning, and programming teams to help resolve manufacturing challenges, improve process flow, and ensured resources are effectively supporting site-wide production needs. Candidates should hold a degree in aerospace, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Applied Aerospace employs mechanical, aerospace, and manufacturing engineers at all levels of experience, from entry level to highly experienced professionals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and maintain Assembly Manufacturing Instruction Documentation and related manufacturing documentation to support production execution, while coordinating reviews with cross-functional stakeholders including Program Management, Quality, Planning, and other relevant teams.
  • Partner with Production Coordinators to help maintain production schedules, verify material readiness, and support overall production flow.
  • Work directly with shared operations centers to align engineering support with production priorities, resource availability, and schedule needs across the site.
  • Identify manufacturing, tooling, equipment, or capacity needs and communicate required resources to program and operations leadership to support on-time and on-budget execution.
  • Support bids and proposals through development of labor estimates, material requirements, and manufacturing approach input.
  • Support purchasing and material planning activities, including Requests to Purchase and review of MRP-generated buy reports, while coordinating required approvals through the appropriate functions.
  • Generate and maintain piece-part routers and related process definitions for simple to moderately complex parts and shared operations processes such as machining, clean and prime, tooling, and related fabrication activities.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to production and shared operations teams to help resolve technical issues, remove process barriers, and improve execution.
  • Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

SKILLS

  • EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, with a focus in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Strong hands-on experience with composites.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting shared operations such as machining, bonding, clean and prime, painting, and tooling.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process development, routers, and work instruction creation.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T, and engineering specification interpretation.
  • Experience troubleshooting shop floor production issues and supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding quality, inspection, and process control requirements in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to support multiple production areas and priorities in a shared resource environment.
