Schedule: Monday through Friday.

Job type: Full-Time.

Salary: Salary - Commission - TBD.

Location: Lexington, Frankfort, Elizabethtown, and Louisville.

This role requires a seasoned sales professional with direct experience working with government entities, strong knowledge of public procurement processes, and the ability to build long-term relationships with decision-makers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

• Develop and grow sales within government accounts, including city, county, and state agencies.
• Build and maintain relationships with:
• Government purchasing officers.
• • Facility managers.
  • Procurement departments.  

• Identify and pursue new government contract opportunities, including RFPs, RFQs, and bids.
• Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract award and ongoing account management.
• Work closely with Baumann Paper Company’s internal bid team to ensure compliance and accuracy in all submissions.
• Maintain a strong pipeline of government opportunities across the state of Kentucky.
• Conduct on-site visits, product demonstrations, and solution-based selling presentations.
• Stay current on government purchasing regulations, cooperative purchasing programs, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with customer service and operations teams to ensure high levels of service and retention.
• Introduce and utilize the Baumann commonwealth contracts of Janitorial, Office, and Wash-ware supplies.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience

• Minimum of four (4) years of direct sales experience working with government entities is required.
• Proven success selling into municipal, county, or state agencies.
• Strong understanding of:
• Government procurement processes.
• • Bid preparation and submission.
  • Contract compliance.

• Consideration will be given to those candidates with strong professional ties to government decision-makers.
• Experience in janitorial supply, facility solutions, or office supply distribution is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout Kentucky as needed.

• Superior proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office products, or other proprietary software.
• Government sales experience.
• Commonwealth of Kentucky contract experience.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Relationship building with Public Sector leader.
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively present information to others in verbal and written formats.
• Ability to work with a team and members of other departments on known concepts.

• Ability to look at a computer screen for 6 to 8 hours a day.
• Ability to drive and operate a vehicle safely.
• Ability to operate standard business equipment such as fax, computer, printer, copier, etc.

• Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds.
• The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences includes the ability to understand the speech of another person

• The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.

Other Requirements

• A person occupying the position must provide proof of having a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle to drive to scheduled appointments safely. The company does not provide the vehicle, but will reimburse for mileage.
• May be required to attend and participate in professional development activities outside the office to stay abreast of new developments and best practices in accounting and bookkeeping principles.
• May be required to work extended or weekend hours in an emergency or project-specific situation.
