Job Description

The Event Captain plays a key leadership role in the successful execution of events, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and according to plan. This position serves as the point person on-site, overseeing event staff, coordinating logistics, and maintaining high standards of guest service and professionalism. The Event Captain ensures seamless communication between teams and acts as a liaison between clients, vendors, and internal departments during events.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise event staff including servers, bartenders, and setup crews during setup, service, and breakdown.
Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, vendors, and venue representatives during the event.
Ensure the event timeline is followed and adapt to changes or challenges in real time.
Oversee room setup including tables, chairs, décor, AV equipment, and signage according to floor plans and event specifications.
Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction by monitoring service, responding to concerns, and ensuring a polished guest experience.
Coordinate food and beverage service with catering or kitchen staff to ensure timely and professional delivery.
Manage on-site checklists, inventory, and event reports, and provide feedback post-event.
Uphold safety, cleanliness, and quality standards throughout the event.
Train and motivate staff as needed; delegate responsibilities effectively.
Troubleshoot unexpected issues calmly and efficiently while maintaining professionalism.

Qualifications:
Prior experience in event coordination, hospitality, or food and beverage service (minimum 2 years preferred).
Proven leadership or supervisory experience in fast-paced environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to problem-solve quickly and remain calm under pressure.
Flexible schedule, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
Knowledge of catering operations, banquet service, or event production is a plus.

Work Environment:
Fast-paced and dynamic, often involving long hours or late nights depending on the event schedule.
Indoor and outdoor venues with varying noise levels and lighting conditions.
Collaborative but requires independent decision-making under pressure.
